Date Stamp is on the Edit menu. It automatically places today’s date at the insertion point. Stamping the date in headers and footers always displays the current date, as set by the Alarm Clock under the Apple menu. Date stamps set with the Date Stamp command do not update every day.
The Date Stamp dialog box presents various format options. As you select different options, the sample date in the dialog box changes to show each effect. Once you’ve selected the date format that you like, pressing Option-Command-’ (apostrophe) bypasses the dialog box and directly stamps the date at the insertion point.
